Is it normal for a mother to only talk about herself?

-I swear my entire life my mother has never given a **** about anything that comes out of my mouth except when I'm talking about her. I told her I'm graduating soon and taking the GRE to go to grad school over the phone, and she has nothing at all to say and ends this topic as soon as possible only to start talking about her new hobbies and terrible job. I'm so sick of this and want to tell her how selfish she is, but she's so selfish it probably wouldn't make a difference.



Seriously I could fly to the moon and I doubt it would phase her.Haha, I have a friend like that. Only, he's such an interesting guy that I enjoy sitting at night for one to two hours, listening to him talk about his life. He always asks for my advice, so I just listen and give him advice, and then he thanks me and I go to bed. Some people are listeners, some people are more so talkers and can be pretty self-centered at times.



Just try to ask your Mom to listen to what you have to say a bit more.My mother is exactly the same. She's like it with everyone, just so self-involved. If a person is like that i doubt she would change when she's talking to her son/daughter.

I'd say so. Mom is selfish. Most women give that up when they have babies. She missed that gene.
