Am I wrong to be offended/ pissed off a little by this? Was he wrong to be pissed off?

-I love my grandpa, I do. He's a very kind and giving person. But today, I had an encounter with him that kind of upset me.

My mother is wonderful to me, and it's her birthday tomorrow. I got her a lot of small gifts. A bunch of little decorative soaps, candles, and some makeup. When I showed my grandpa what I got her, he got all pissed off. He insisted on knowing how much I spent. And he was like "Jesus Christ, Emma. Why the hell would you get her so much? It really wasn't necessary." He said this in a legitimately pissed off tone. He started acting all upset and stresssed, and I was supposed to feel bad, but I really don't feel like I should. His money was not spent, it was mine that I worked for, and wanted to spend on my mother, because I know she'll appreciate it, and I'm glad I'm giving her a lot. I'm waitressing and babysitting a lot for the summer, and I'm doing well financially (seeing as I'm only 15), and he knows it. It wasn't like "OH THAT'S SO NICE, YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT"... He was like, being rude to me , acting like I was stupid and spoiling my mom for getting her so much. Was he wrong? Was I wrong?As your mother, you owe nearly everything to her, she's lucky to have a child like you.



As for your grand father, not much to say really, he's an old guy now who probably didn't get the same treatment from his children. It's not something I would worry about, just brush it off, and remember that any choice you make to show appreciation and or love to your parents is always a good choice :)
In my opinion he's wrong. Like you said, it's your money, not his, so why does it matter to him? I think that's nice that you got those gifts for your mom. I think you have a right to be mad/irritated by what he said, but if I were you i'd just try to forget about it and have fun celebrating with your mom for her birthday.
It's your money not his so there is absolutely no reason why he should be angry unless he has something against your mum...
i think he lived in a time period where 2 bucks was a ton of money and he is probably frugal which isnt a bad thing but just live with it happy b-day to random persons mom happy b-day 2 u!!!!!!
He's old. Old people don't make sense most of the time. It's your money and it's your mom.
