Do you think just said this to scare them?

-I was babysitting my neighbors kids last night and when their mom was about to leave and saying goodbye and all she said to them "BE Good. I dont want to come back and hear that Cait had to spank u". The kids were all like We will...blah blah. And i was like HUH??? Do you think she just said that to scare the kids into behaving?? or was she like really serious cause i dont think i could do that. Im 13 and the kids are 5 and 7. I dont even think i would be allowed since im not 18. what do u think? Have u ever let your sitter spank? that doesnt sound right to me.Yes the mother probably had to put in her scare tactics to make sure the kids will listen to you while you are babysitting.



Just out of curiosity. Did you see any bruises on the children? If you see anything like that on the child. Report the neighbor to social services. Child abuse is not tolerated anywhere!Im sure that the mother was just joking around, well hopefully. My parents never ever spanked me when i was "bad" because that's not the appropriate way to discipline your child, however a parent can choose to discipline their child in whatever way they want to. Because they are not your kids, spanking them would not be appropriate, and i certainly would not feel comfortable doing so, like you said. Even if the parents give you permission to spank, you do not have to do so. The children can be sent to a time out or something along those lines instead. There alternate ways of discipline other then physical contact.
I think she was just joking to keep her kids in line. You should never hit a child, in any way. Especially since you're babysitting, because other parents might hear that you did that (not that you did) and not want you to babysit their kid, just saying. I'm also 15, but that doesn't change my opinion.
you shouldnt because she did not advise you to do so. she was just scaring them. my baby sitter was allowed to spank me growing up cuz my mom told her to. not 18 has nothing to do with it but i do think you are too young to do that lol. hope this helps
I'm gonna be honest. You may not like this answer, but I personally think you should. They get outta line? Wham. I don't use or have a sitter (I'm 15, for crying out loud!), but that's what I think. I mean, come on.
I think she was just kidding. And lol, you don't have to be a certain age to spank a kid, but I do think it's wrong.
